Glenn, Sue and Robert are pleased to invite you, wherever you are in the world, to view and experience our own little corner of North Staffordshire.

The oatcake is not a cake at all really
Not a cake in that way
More of a Potteries Poppadom
A sort of Tunstall Tortilla
A clay Suzette

                      Arthur Berry

We have been producing hand baked oatcakes here as a family since 1982.

'The Hole In The Wall' is the last surviving front-room oatcake shop in Staffordshire.

At our premises in Waterloo Street in Hanley the actual baking area which is an unusual shape would at one time have been the kitchen of the house.

In years gone by, every room had a function, we are told that the living room was used to sell drapery.

The shop sells oatcakes out on to the pavement, originally from a sash window, which has since been replaced.

Customers queue up at the window of our end-terrace house which is always exposed to the elements - McDonalds it is not!

Our crispy bacon and cheese oatcakes are served straight from the bakestone and the taste is second to none.
